Posting tips for members
No rules – just write! We ask that you share your expertise and
your questions – the things that are at the tips of your fingers every day. Your
post could be a broad address of a question or a narrow focus on a single technical
point. Any size post is welcome, from a
few sentences to many paragraphs.
Keep it conversational: PD Online is first and
foremost about conversation. The best posts will strike an engaging and opinionated
tone and spark intelligent debate, raise questions, or direct discussion.
Everyone loves pictures: While figures and
illustrations are not necessary, they often add significantly to the value of a
post. You can use the camera icon in the editor window to upload all the
standard formats. (Just please be sure you have the legal right to publish any
images you use!)
Citations: Please write citations into your text
in the (Author, et al., year) format and add the reference by following the
instructions on the ‘create response’ page.
Check for “garbage code” before you submit your post: Cutting
and pasting text or images from some word processor programs can import garbage
formatting code into your post in our editor window. Before you hit the ‘publish’ button, look at
your entire post in the editing window and simple delete any garbage code.
Remember – you are publishing to the world: Your
piece is visible to members as well as public visitors – please keep this in
mind as you post and in particular remember to avoid statements that could be
construed as medical advice or opinion about best treatment practices.
