Psychiatric Symptoms

A number of psychiatric symptoms of PD have been characterized.

  • Depression is found in 36-50% of PD cases (mean), including major depression, minor depression, dysthymia, subsyndromal symptoms. 
  • PD also leads to increased anxiety symptoms in 66% of patients, including generalized anxiety disorder, panic, social phobia.

Some PD drug therapies are associated with psychiatric complications.
