New Diagnostic Guidelines for Alzheimer's Disease

As the AD field continues on the quest to identify biomarkers, MJFF is spearheading similar efforts to launch the Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI). The mission of PPMI is to identify one or more biomarkers of Parkinson’s disease progression, a critical step in the development of new and better treatments for PD.  The first of 17 PPMI sites are coming online this summer. The goal is to recruit 200 control and 400 de novo PD participants who have clinical and imaging testing and provide a variety of biologic samples over the course of 3-5 years. The end result will be the largest and most comprehensive repository of patient data and samples, which will be made available to the wider research community to conduct biomarker verification studies.

As the PPMI study gets up and running, MJFF plans to launch a study website and create a more significant PPMI presence here on PDOR. Stay tuned.
