Proteostasis
The proteostasis mechanisms regulate the amount of misfolded proteins (eg, alpha-synuclein) to limit the damage caused by aggregates. In this group, members are encouraged to participate in discussions in the following topics - (i) molecular chaperones that ensure proper folding of proteins; (ii) ubiquitin-proteasome system that ensures turnover of misfolded or damaged proteins; (iii) chaperone-mediated autophagy, which turns over specific proteins like synuclein in the lysosome; (iv) disaggregation system to reactivate aggregated proteins; (v) autophagy, which eliminates protein aggregates in the lysosome.
